Those of you who have seen my apartment in Lausanne know that I have a bed big enough for a threesome. It is 200×200. No threesomes, those are HARAAM but it is that big (srsly, we slept four in there once). The problem is that I only sleep on 1/4 of it. I’m not one of those people who just automatically takes over the bed once she sleeps alone. I am for reals, after my cooking and my money, the best thing about being married to me is that I don’t take up a lot of space on the bed. Right now, I sleep on one side, and Pablito is either behind my knees or on the other side.
Anyway, since I have to move and stuff (FML FML FML) one thing I was thinking of is switching beds. The guest room bed is brand new and a much more manageable size- the equivalent of a full size bed. I will likely move to a smaller apartment and am not ruling out something with one bedroom. Since I will be sleeping alone for the forseeable future I was thinking of switching beds when I move to the new bed. I still will likely only sleep on half of it. Boo.
So my current plan for the old bed is doing some sort of Arabian nights tatami-couch thing in what would be my living room. How tacky is that? The frame is quite low. I wanted to throw a nice duvet on it and a junkload of cushions. Like a bed-bar shisha place type sitting area. Discuss.
I don’t want to get rid of the bed because I have a lot of out-of-town visitors, and the apts I have looked at have the space for both a couch and the bed in the living room. Yay or nay? And does anyone in Lausanne want to help me decorate?

I can attest that you don’t move much in your sleep (and that bed is so comfortable!.
The Arabian nights kind of idea is cool, but the mattress is too wide to pull that off. I think you should wait and see what the new place looks like.

thats an awesome idea… I would love that here, but we just dont have the space.. sounds far too comfy though, I would probably end up sleeping in the living room hehee 😀

Until you move to a smaller apt, keep the bed. Depending on who you host (multiple family members at a time? Single friends?) you can figure out whether to use the threesome-sized bed or the full size for the guest room.
200×200 in the living room? Silly question – is there any way to sit on it and be able to rest your back against something at the same time?

Oh I am keeping the big orgy bed. My current plan today (different from when I wrote it) is the dream apt I am on the list for is in the attic, so I was thinking of shoving it under the sloped roof and adding pillows. So there isn’t 200 of usable space unless people are lying down. Outside of friends visiting, it could then be used as a second couch. I already have a massive L couch.
Then putting the smaller guest room bed in the bedroom. But getting an apartment c’est pas encore gagné so I could just be homeless in november or couch surfing. 100% galère pour trouver un appart à Lausanne. We’ll see.
